How are the Gen IV and Gen V arcs? I stopped reading after Emerald because waiting chapter for chapter was a pain in the butt.

The games are the games. The manga is the manga. The anime is the anime. They all are their own "canon" and that's part of the charm of them all. How boring it would be if they all were the same shit but just in a different format? Making everything different from everything is the whole point of the thing because that way you are able to enjoy the story in many different ways.
