Red is supposed to be the greatest trainer who ever lived. His pokemon are the highest levels you will ever encounter in any game.
When you find him GSC he's completely silent on an isolated mountain in the most dangerous place in any region.
He also has an unevolved Pikachu being his highest leveled mon despite all of his other pokemon being fully evolved.
All in all, Red strikes me as a trainer of incredible strength with a silent disposition and the hint of a personality in not evolving Pikachu.
