>>43406712>Projections are 20+ million globally in just one month of salesDon't just make stuff up, especially that over-the-top. Sword/Shield's combined openings in the U.S. and UK were bigger than New Horizon's. New Horizons outsold Sword/Shield in Japan and that's probably about it. New Leaf was one of the 3DS's biggest sellers in Japan, so no one should exactly be stunned by that.
Furthermore, twenty million in one month would have it beating out Smash Ultimate's lifetime sales in one month, and NPD Group already said that New Horizons didn't open as well in North America as Smash Ultimate ("third-biggest Nintendo-published game opening behind Smash Brawl and Smash Ultimate.") That claim doesn't even begin to pass the smell test.
All of this though, only goes to show how much the goalposts have shifted. Used to be people here claimed X/Y, Sun/Moon or even fucking Let's Go would outsell it. Now any game doing better than it in one country (in this case, Japan) produces "ha ha, Sword and Shield BTFO, we got you now Game Freak!" It's just pitiful. Sword/Shield will probably eventually surpass Diamond/Pearl and be the biggest-selling Pokémon game of the post-Game Boy era. There is no way to spin it as a commercial failure, and attempting to do so is bait or retardation.
