Hoenn Confirmed shit was when the games finally stopped being the black sheep, probably due to Unova being a second attempt at the full on soft reboot style of game before every game afterward would need to rely on shillmons to sell newer games and reach new sales heights. If FRLG didn't happen, people would absolutely NOT be looking back fondly on Hoenn in the slightest

A good chunk of Pokemon success IS because of emulation, especially Gen III, the easiest game to hack and mod. Do you think the rest of the world gives a fuck about Hoenn Nostalgia? What's the last Hoenn-related thing this franchise got? Fucking Galarian Linoone? After ORAS, Hoenn was buried by Game Freak for good. Even their "Hoenn rep" in SM was completely rewritten to be a brand new character
