Everyone always talks about Regions like they're countries, but the way I always saw it was really literal. They're just parts of a bigger country, they're literally a region. It explains why they're so small and easily traversable for a child, because it's only a region. Kanto and Johto are literally based on regions of Japan, Alola and Unova are based on single states of the US, Kalos was based off an entire country, but it was as large as the other region based regions, and Galar is also based off of an entire country, but it's only part of the United Kingdom. Do you think they're entire countries, or just regions in part of a bigger country? I can't possibly imagine countries that small.
