>>45104222The best reasoning I can think of is that Kadabra is an occultist (pentagram head) who wants to get more power and knowledge so it makes a deal with a spirit from another dimension (Haunter's Pokedex entry) bounding it to a physical body. It also loses weight like it is so obssesed with mind that it forgets about the body (Mega Alakazam nicely continues that) making it more spiritual and less physical in some sense.
