>>41349008>finding Nessa by the lighthouseI didn't even KNOW you had to find Nessa first, I just kind of went there naturally, saw someone, saw that it was her, and then went to the Gym Battle
I think what ruins the pacing is both how fucking condensed Galar is, and the roadblocks
In any other game, when you beat a Gym, you head to the next town by going through a route, sometimes two, and then when you get to the next town that has the Gym, you have access to another route or two before you're roadblocked; either way, you have at least a few places to train and level up, to give you that sense of progression
For example, after you beat Burgh in Castelia City in Unova, you then move onto Route 4, where you can also get to the Desert Resort and the ruins, or you could head straight to Nimbasa City, and there's another Gym
But you can also head west to Route 5, or east to Route 16, which gives you access to the Lostlorn Forest
From one town to the next, that's at LEAST six different places to visit and level up your Pokemon, never mind the fact that Nimbasa City also has the two stadiums for more trainers to fight
You could easily spend upwards of half an hour or more doing this and preparing for Elesa
Not once has this happened in Sword and Shield, where towns are usually separated by one route, and the routes are so barebones and empty hallways that there's nothing substantial whatsoever
And unlike the progression of Castelia City -> Nimbasa City that I just mentioned, try doing that in Sword and Shield and you'll get some Yell fucks going "OI I'M WALKIN' HERE"
To go from one Gym to the next will take a few minutes at most, with the worst example being Stow-on-Side, where all that separates its Gym from Ballonlea's is one fucking dark "forest" that you can walk through in a minute and you're at the next Gym
This shit miffs me, man
