My first game was Yellow. I had no clue how to beat Brock with a Pikachu or that Buttergree learned Confusion because my only reference was the anime.
So I started grinding. I finally managed to beat him with a Rattata around lvl 15 and Pikachu past lvl 22.
No need to say the rest of the run went pretty smoothly with my overtrained Pikachu.
