HG/SS overwrites Crystal, so Kris doesn't exist in Game canon.
As for FR/LG, Red has always been the canon protag. Leaf was just the mandatory female character we have. In HG/SS and PWT, its still and always will be Red, not Leaf.
Basically, Leaf is just Red as a trap.
