Let's Go set out to do something very specific and it did it well. It's simple/barebones but really polished. Has a lot of >soul with the addition of riding/following Pokemon.
The big hit to it was that the left a lot on the table. If they gave the game access to the gen 4 evos, the rest of the eeveelutions, and maintained the core elements (i.e. abilities, held items, etc.) it would probably would have been hailed as one of the best Pokemon games ever. *Especially* if they brought back the Sevii island.
On the other hand Sword and Shield set out to do not very much and completely failed at every aspect from it.
