The switch games are selling well because we're at a point where the Pokémon license is so iconic and popular that GF can put out low-effort, glitchy, ugly games at an unhealthy pace and tens of millions of people will still buy them regardless, all thanks to the prestigious (*COUGH* *ACK* *COUGH*) status of Pokémon. The series is not evolving, it has been on a downward spiral since it became the highest-grossing video game of all time and the only thing that MAYBE can fix that is spacing out game releases, but that would mean losing profit which is all the higher-ups care about.
