My Chart is not more complicated. Instead of matching 18 body types against 18 attack types, I now got 14 body types and 13 attack types.
I merely removed Poison type, as its weaknesses didn't make sense (most were regular animals). Then I made Ground exclusive to lizards and Dark exclusive to demons.
GameFreak scratches the bottom of the barrel to create new Ground/Fairy/Dragon/Bug moves, and they rarely make any sense apart from "they charge it with their Type's unique aura". I removed all of that. A scratch is a scratch.
You want to include a Sound Type with explicit matchups? Wouldn't make sense in the official chart, no creature is "made" of vibrations. BUT. You can just make it an attack type in my system.
Oh, you want to insert a new Digital type to include Porygon-like creatures made from HardLight? You can in my system. What would even be their attack theme though? Digi-Beams? No worries! In my system if it is a laser beam, it's Light type. If it is a tackle, then it's ..just a tackle. No STAB. Like IVs, these are antiquated systems.
