>>57773847I don't think those are the best examples personally. Both have repeatedly failed to meet sales expectations for over a decade. DQ is comfortable never appealing to westerners and FF is continuously losing money. Brothership got outsold by TTYD, a remake of a 20 year old game.
I understand what you're getting at, but Pokemon's simplicity and relative primitiveness is exactly why it's so successful. The numbers don't lie.
