Okay /vp/, here it is, your guide to gitting gud at the Maison while still using your bros
>Get a bunch of your favorite Pokemon, not just your top 3 or 6 but more of the top 15-20. You can't simply slap a bunch of randoms together and expect them to work, you need to figure out which go together well. You'll want fairly optimized sets, copy-paste from Smogon at first, you can adjust their moves later.
>Go to the Battle Institute in Lumiose (don't know if there's one in ORAS)
>Pick 3 mons that seem to work together, and run through the BI's 5 battles trying to get the highest score. Since this depends a lot on hitting weaknesses and switching into resisted/immune attacks, it's a good test of the synergy with your Pokemon.
>You might want to run through a few times, but they'll throw you up against a bunch of different Pokemon in rapid succession so you should have a feel of what's working and what's not. If you're having trouble hitting certain mons or taking hits, rotate out one Pokemon for another in the group you put together earlier.
>By the end, you should have a solid team that can cover each other's weaknesses and take on a variety of threats. It's usually good build around a high-tier Pokemon that can setup quickly or is a huge nuke, and then pair them with your weaker bros that deal with niches your bruiser can't beat. Lower tier Pokemon also can have specific roles that can be crucial in the Maison, such as a Frisk user for spotting dangerous sets or a frail suicide lead that can cripple the enemy team without needing a switch.
>If a Pokemon doesn't work on one team, it can often find a place on another. Make it challenge to achieve Master rank several times without reusing Pokemon to have a variety of bro teams.
>Don't fret if it takes you a while, you'll become better once you start learning the sets of the Pokemon in Maison. There's also the fact that a lot of times hax will wipe out an otherwise solid team and there's nothing you can do about it.
