Gamefreak absolutely knew how this game was going to turn out, and they rub it in your face
Also they mock the shit out of the community all over, like with the shiny mareep quest mocking the shit out of shiny hunters, or the odd npcs with bits of dialogue mocking people that made theories about XY, like the "no you're not the one" mystery, there's an npc in the city that mocks people about that, EXACTLY how they did with the battle frontier in ORAS, I'll post a screencap a friend had here next post
