He started as an adorable round seal, but when he evolved into Walrein, he looked like the sprite on the left. He looked pretty angry and stupid and he had a big dumb nose.
Gen 4 made some minor adjustments and he now looked less dumb and angry, but people already had it in their heads that hey didn't like him. With his adjusted design, I could easily have seen him as a starter, though maybe with a different typing.
