>>48726576>FantinaSo, this battle was troublesome for a number of reasons. One is the very obvious fact that nothing on my team even takes neutral damage from her very strong STAB attacks coming off incredibly fast mons. Two is that her lead Drifblim has Calm Mind and Baton Pass, so Captivate is at best unreliable here. And three is that she is the third gym - I can't afford to lose that many mons here given how consistent the difficulty of this game is and how limited my options are.
Her team - Drifblim, Dusclops, Banette, Spiritomb, Gengar, Mismagius. I take out Drifblim with an Expert Belt Ice Beam from Jynx, then, moment of truth...she sends in the one weak link on her team, Dusclops, as it has a super effective move and is the next mon in her lineup. This thing sucks dog fuck. It has only Shadow Punch for an attacking move, and is an easily shut down wall otherwise. I send in Golduck on a Shadow Punch with a Kasib Berry to weaken Shadow Punch, then Disable it the next turn. I then send in pre-burned Noctowl to Psycho Shift the burn onto it, then begin Growling as much as I can. Once Disable wears off, I swap to Claydol and set up Cosmic Powers so the burn damage can whittle it down to where Fantina heals, and when she does this, I swap to Gardevoir, who - take a guess! - sets up 6 Calm Minds and takes out her team behind the safety of another sub.
Very scary, no pun intended, had the Banette Sucker Punched my Sub away so Mismagius (who did outspeed, but it went for Calm Mind) could crit kill - had Fantina for some reason not sent out Dusclops second - had the game not given me Substitute like jesus fuck this move is broken - this would have been a mess. But I beat an absurdly strong ghost leader with a mono psychic team, no deaths, and I feel pretty damn good.
