No one had a problem with the chibi-ish artstyle in LGPE because it was coherent. No one cared about the chibi-ish artstyle in Gens 1-6 because it wasn't trying to be chibi on purpose.
Gen 6 is truly going to be the last time we ever have high fidelity character designs, isn't it?
