Heres some concept art of a snake wity a similar aura for what im thinking.
Desert Viper inspired snake monster thats typically 8ft long with an average body girth of nearly three feet (around 14 inches wide) and a head the size of an rugby ball. Basic, single stage. Rather than it having actual course, spiked scales though, its body is delicate. Instead, it secretes a membrenous, mucus like slime that collects a "skin" of mud and sand that then hardens into a spiked, scale like armor. While beneath the shell its body stays protected from the harsh desert and physical harm. Thanks to this armor, the creature is aggressive and often takes on prey larger than itself. This has led it to take on using many takedown and grapple style fighting techniques to subdue its prey before paralyzing and eating it. So though it uses no punch or kick combat moves, it utilizes moves such as submission, reversal, counter, low sweep, and even sky uppercut or throat chop. In tandem, the snake can (dig) beneath its prey or aggressively and rapidly spiral towards their foe to take them down (drill run). These techniques help it defeat its larger foes by using their size against them.
If in a particularly dangerous situation, the snake can then use its armor as a weapon. By oversecreting the mucus, the snake can temporarily liquefy its earthen armor to either increase its speed or even attack. This can allow it to use moves like sand tomb, mud shot, or mud bomb. This will also give it a unique ground move called Sand Whip done by sharply snapping its tail covered in the mud towards or at its foe. Itll be a ground type attack that hits either physically or specially, whichever does most damage, but it uses the user of Sand Whips attack stat for damage calculation. It also uses moves like glare, coil, poison tail, or even shell smash (or acid armor).
Its abilities are either anger point or shed shell, with weak armor being its HA.
