Does anybody else think it's utterly ridiculous that only now does any section of the normiesphere find Gamefreak's games of shockingly low quality?
It's blantantly obvious that the last pokemon game that was allowed sufficent development time was pokemon gold/silver. But even then magazines and reviewers noticed that ''not enough had changed'' in the formula for pokemon gold, well look at the games now.
Sword and Shield and the new shit are some of the ugliest video games ever created. Decent budget ps1 games blow it out the water in terms of aesthetic appeal and graphics! The textures are horrible and stretched, lighting looks like an alpha build, charater designs are now a bunch of fat faggots in school clothes or like trannies - just generally ugly.
The entire aesthetcism of the early pokemon franchise, which was steeped in this childhood nostalgia for the Japanese environment, nature, and pop culture led to a really quite comfy look. The toriyama esque water colour art and sharp character faces are all still appealing in comparison to the dough eyed plastic sheeney look of modern anime. And this reflected on the games as well.
One completley botched think about pokemon is the overall world building, pokemon should of always pursued the mystical aspect of it's world, which was quite prevalent in gen 1. The mysteries surrounding ditto and the origin of pokemon in general made you feel like you were on a frontier. Even like lt surge's references to the war and the use of whips, lavender town all present an interesting world compared to the post anime watered down verison of things.
I could say a million other things, about how pokemon needs to move closer to a traditional rpg in some aspects due to the playground element of the games being lost to the internet, stuff like that but the post would go on forever. Basically the series should of massively advanced in terms of gameplay, story, and presentation
