Maybe Gigalith sends out sounds with it's head and chest horn and receives them with his highly specialized sound receptors, which can move in any direction inside their sockets. Maybe what we see as pupils are actually a concentrated spot of tiny hairs, on hollow spheres, that help it pick up sound waves and turn it into an image inside it's mind. Or they could be ultraviolet receptors on it's orb shaped sound receivers.
