See, in digimon story games one plays through with a harem of waifumons. This is most likely due to there being no good digimon porn in any real amount that isn't yaoi, renamon, or bara furry.

On that similar note, the 'superiority' against Pokemon may also come from the fact that digimon is dead in the west, while Pokemon is still going strong, leading to a reactionary need to defend themselves and what they like, lashing out at the bigger franchise.
