that's what happened with Shiny, my Gastrodon from Platinum. I encountered a Shellos but I wasn't near enough to my computer to check if he was shiny or if I was just not remembering what shade of blue Shellos should be, so I named him Shiny to remind myself to check. He was just a regular ol' Shellos but like most water/ground Pokemon, he was a beast/bro as hell
