>>49117995I just bought a switch a month ago and started out playing through Sword.
It was the best pokémon experience I've ever had.
A lot of outdated mechanics were improved upon.
I also like how the league was made out to be this big sporting event. For the first time ever it actually made sense.
I didn't even care about the basically lack of a story. The journey to become champion was so well executed.
Before diving too deep into end-game content I decided to play through Brilliant Diamond.
What a terrible experience, coming from just playing Sword. It felt like such a massive step backwards.
Back to random attacks in tall gras.
Routes were just endurances of tall grass and rows of trainers.
No wonder trade
No Home compatability
I felt like despite combing through a lot of the game, I kept running into the same few pokemon.
Mother fucking geodude everywhere.
Hard not to overlevel.
Berry mechanic is still as terrible.
Honey on trees is still terrible.
Ugly chibi style - why not Let's go style at least?
Weird grid restrictions
One use TMs
Poketch? Wtf! What a terrible feature to carry over.
Player customization is a few complete outfits.
BUT... The battle scene backgrounds are the best ever.
Following Pokémon is great
The Underground was pretty nice.
