Not all online relationships are doomed. You can still date someone from the internet, and take trips to visit them to get a feel of things. If anything, you get to know someone more personally online, since it's easier to express. Not everyone's the same, though. Yeah, you have to be smart and look for any red flags, but I've seen these sort of relationships work out just fine.
