I actually like how the anime tries to be game-loyal by signifying stat changes as speedlines like in the games. I used to mind glowy glowy effects, but these days they do things like actually making Pikachu's tail metallic or veiling the mon's fist in speedy orange impact to show that it's a fighting-type move.
Anyways, I'm still triggered as all fuck by the anime's depiction of Ice Ball. It's supposed to be an ice-coated Rollout.
