Neo sets had just released, but I didn't know what the hell sets even were. They looked a little different from the older cards, but there were always those different symbols on them in the corners. Maybe these new ones were like the Second Edition or Medal cards, some kind of special series. All I knew is packs had some new pokemon in them now and that was fucking awesome.
Everyone in my grade was done with Pokemon already, so I made friends with kids a couple years younger who were just getting into it. I was the coolest motherfucker in afterschool daycare for pulling this bad boy and I made sure all the 5 year olds knew it, but no fucking way I'd trade it. Not even for a Medal Charizard, which I still wanted so I gave him my prized Japanese holographic Blaine's Arcanine.
