If the resistances/weaknesses are true, AND the type chart remains the same otherwise, using Poison offensively will still be idiotic. If good Fairies exist, more people will be using Steel types offensively, namely Metagross. Anyone who thinks their Muk will finally KO something with Gunk Shot is going to be in for a nasty surprise when someone simply switches in a Steel-type.
