I ask if there's something I could do to help her, and if I could have my Hat back. I'd try to be respectful, at least. Wild Hatterene can be quite vicious, but when they're calm they can be pretty tranquil individuals. When it's time to part I will politely bid it fair-well and walk out of the woods to (hopeful) safety.
Then, maybe later down the line, I'll get a Hatenna.
