You are a fool to think the creators of hte series give a damn about a pokemon's lore like you do, if the ywant eevee to evolve into a normal type it's gonna fucking evolve into a normal type, however they don't want that, they forced Eeevee to be Pikachu 2.0 simply because with it like that they will no longer have to make new forms for it like those, Think about it, Lana got an Eevee and despite her being a water specializst it never became a Vaporeon. Kohaku will probably get an Eevee if they actually do something with her and it'll be a Gigantamax capable Eevee.
Eevee will never have a new form ever again just things that change it's marketable appearance like a hat , some fur changes and expression changes. That's it.
For crying outloud it's most recent appearence was starting in that Gotcha video alongside Pikachu and the story of the vidoe is it's trainer freaking grew up with it yet it never evolved into Espeon, Umbreon or Sylveon despite the very clear affection it got throughout the years.
I'll be shocked if those three aren't changed to Sun Stone, Moon Stone and Dawn Stone in the future.
