Pikachu is an 'abstraction' of a mouse, fighting in turn-based battles that are 'abstraction' of real life battle, in fictional world that's an 'abstraction' of our own world. See what I mean? Claiming that something is an abstraction is not only a waste of time imo, but it hardly narrows anything when frankly most things in a pokemon game could be classified as not being 100% realistic representations.
So again, 'abstraction' is just a vague buzzword.
