Made a personal ranking some time ago, maybe we could share thoughts.
6. I rank low the Galactic because I think 4th gen was a low point of the series, mostly for bad memories of it. The first team not taken seriously in-game, was a bit underwhelming at first. I like Cyrus as a character to be honest, but his motivations seem too silly, edgy or just plain confusing. How could all the admins and grunts follow him without knowing his plans? Just for his charisma? I can understand Charon when he goes “fuck this bullshit I’ll go for the money”. Speaking of the admins, I find them a little bit out of focus, except maybe for Mars. I admit I don’t like them aesthetically too, but they have some of the best musics, love the jazzy feeling. But they rank last nonetheless.
5. Aqua/Magma. Hoenn games are my favorite and I like the teams too, but they’re not really villains but well intentioned extremists. In RSE they were pretty anonymous and interchangeable with each other, so I was glad that ORAS changed this, giving each team a specific theme (scientists vs pirates), personality and focus on the admins, and better motives to the bosses. Again, they can hardly be called villains, being the first teams that repented their actions, but I like both. Maybe the Magmas and Maxie a little bit more, mostly for their anthropocentric visions.
4. Team Flare is... odd. For what I remember, they ARE villains and are threatening, are well-dressed rich kids who want to be the sole survivors of Lysandre’s apocalyptic genocide... and that’s all. They suffer the same problem of all XY characters: zero characterization, Lysandre aside and to a lesser extend Xerosic. The four scientist girls are fucking copy pasted, I don’t even remember their names. That said, I like Flare’s suits and love their battle theme, so I guess a middle rank is pretty fair.
