As has been said, Starter Pokemon are hardly legendaries in terms of battle capacity; not that it's hard to get some kid to hand theirs over to you if you play your cards right and really want a Bulbasaur for some reason. Big deal. Don't act like one of those idiotic conspiracists who wave their ridiculous signs in the air proclaiming the end is nigh. It's irritating.
That said, I do wonder about how much battle prowess the professors actually possess. I've heard that Oak in particular was quite the fighter in his prime, and I do recall rumours of his team actually outleveling that of the Indigo Champion's, though that might be a stretch. I've battled the champion before - several times, actually - and those dragons of his are not to be trifled with. Anybody here actually battle the guy at some point?
