>>35874199New anon in the conversation. It's not impossible. Back when I was a little fucking idiot (aged 7), I realised that pokemon got exp faster when fighting alone. Thinking a Butterfree would totally fucking sweep Brock's gym in Blue, I solo leveled a Metapod all the way to 10 using struggle.
I'd find a wild Metapod and send out my own. Then I'd (unintentionally) recreate that scene in which Ash and the Bug Catcher cheer on their Metapods until something happened. String shot had 35pp(?) and Harden had 40(?), so that was 75 turns alone just fucking sitting there mashing the A button. Eventually, Metapod would have to Struggle about. If you don't already know, Struggle does more damage to the opponent than it does to you, so it's totally viable in these situations. Anyway, after running out of pp, I'd run from the wild Metapod and then start clearing the fucking forest of anything that dare stand in the way of my beast of a Metapod.
I did this for hours and more than once. It's possible, but unlikely. In hindsight, it'd be way fucking faster to just bait and switch Metapod every fight than this shit.
