>>47623730-So the mentality was not ”This game couldn't be made without a lot of capacity” but rather “lets increase capacity to make it possible”.
Once the trading system was complete its the turn of battle system!
-In this game, the pokemon's rate of appearance is different among the two versions, where did that idea come from?
Tajiri: By chance, it was an idea from Miyamoto. He came a while ago to check and by chance discussed “the incentives for trading pokemon”, and said they would be stronger if we made two different colored versions with different pokemon appearing in them so they had to trade. As this request to the factories was sent by Nintendo it became possible; I don't I could have managed to do that myself.
Ohta:We also had this idea of generating a random number when the cart was inserted in the gameboy and that would determine the pokemon that could appear.
Tajiri:While the idea of trading pokemon was great, but to make it practical, we had to have battling.
Morimoto: Regarding battling, president Tajiri suggested that, but I personally didn't find it appealing, or rather, I thought it'd be hard to program(laughs).”I wont be able to make do” was what I thought, but the people at Nintendo had the “We want battling” opinion so it seemed everyone was on the same boat. Well, there was no other way around it, I first made it it about a dude who just watches. The dude who challenged you told you if you won or lost. Even then, Nintendo made an poll and everyone agreed it was “boring”(laughs). I thought that was true, but it was hard to make something where you could actually enter commands and play against each other, because of deadlines and stuff.Even then, everyone worked together, adjusted the communication tools and eventually came up with the current form.
