>>49728593I think it does given the context of Pokémon and how humans usually look like the world. Sure as you said there's cartoons with kids with triangle heads like that one Disney cartoon but he still had human hands, feet, skin, eyes and ears, hair and everyone else was also cartoony so it wasn't much a big deal, he's just a cartoony human in a cartoony world.
With Pokémon the Pokémon have quiet a few non-human traits and given how most humans look in Pokémon contrasting their headshape to theirs is valid especially since Pokémon aren't there to represent humans, take some inspiration yes but not be them.
If I may be allowed to pick on Gardefags for one last time here's a contrast from the anime. Now compared to Vaporeon and Glaceon Gardevoir face appears to be just an oblong while the other two had defined chins, cheeks and a anime human-ish overall shape. This is more highlighted when put right next to a Pokémon human. Along with the context and other traits it adds more to the non-humanness of the design. None of the bipedal Pokémon have face shapes like Glaceon or even Vaporeon for a good reason, they don't want to make them too humanlike and the face is an important factor.
