For example, by episode 5 Ash gets his first badge in Kanto, by episode 8 Ash has his second gym badge, and by 14 he has his third. Contrast that with Diamond and Pearl, he gets his first badge by 16, second badge by 37 episodes, and his third badge by 67 episodes. Why was this change made? There is also a weird thing in the newer anime, anything past Indigo, where pokemon appear randomly rather than their respective locations. For example, they first encounter zubat and clefairy in Mt.Moon, however, in the Diamond and Pearl anime, there are Ariados in the first episode when they shouldn't even be in the region. And those Ariados are central to Dawn getting her starter. Not only that, but Pokemon, especially new pokemon seem to appear randomly and whenever. Croagunk wasn't found in the great marsh, it just appeared out of nowhere before the first gym. And why did Bunneary show up before Eterna forest? Does anyone know why these changes were made?
