>>36338177 said, routes generally make you feel immersed in the game as if you were the trainer journeying across the various landscapes, battling other random trainers in the area, and just overall taking in the sights while comfy or epic music plays. I used to dislike longer oriented routes because eventually the trainer battles would bore me, but hanging around this thread made me realize how important they really are to the overall experience of the games. It's depressing that most routes these days are so short and feel dry.
