>>53395515That's because it wasn't a single-vote asisn poll, but rather a 10-day worldwide open poll.
>>53395274When it comes to redesigning something existing to potentially invigorate its reception vs making something entirely new and hoping the gamble takes it's not. And not when we have hard fucking evidence of what exactly gets regionalised. The least-popular fire starter, because charizard, blaziken, infernape and emboar were all decently-to-extremely well-recieved in their respective Gens and the newer ones clearly weren't thought of lower than poor Typhlosion. the most-maligned Water starter, hated for not being a bipedal jobmon, but a mash up of mounted samurai and his steed, while turtletank, literallyagator, growed up memefish, hell even empoleon got passed over, with the last three being the most popular with little boys and manchildren, little girls and cumskulls and teenage girls and women respectively. And then we get down to brass tacks. Venusaur is genwun and most-popular of all ggrass starters, plain andd basic facts, megnium was rubbish in-game, but bayleef was a cumskull for ash and that's what most people remember so it gets a pass, sceptile was cool, I'll fucking admit so again, not tripping the regionalisation threshold, torterra was cool AND an ashmon, so again poopular, serperior was no. 1 favourite in the Gen 5 starter stakes and still retains a certain level of inerest, chesnaught honestly got ignored and then rowlet mogged decidueye.
And out of ALL them starters, instead of maybe refreshing the pokémon that honestly got ignored and pushed aside to shill manchildfrog, they picked the bird that won a 10 day poll, proving regardless of how hard owlfags want to shape a narrative, it'll forever be included among such luminries as Voltorb, Grimer, linoone and Darmanitan, while legitimately popular pokémon have no need of parlour tricks to sell. They're all made to move merch, regionals are as much a concession the OG design just can't sell.
