This is not an apologist thread for a now dead company, to be clear. Nor, is it an excuse of their terrible editing/visual censorship practices either, those should stay a thing of the past. This is just some reflection on the hate the infamous long since dead 4Kids got for years & years but...
This is a thread to say that, for all their flaws, it appears 4Kids did actually do something right or at the worst-- decently to fairly good-- with one Anime they dubbed: Pokemon. Who would have ever guessed TPCi, the Pokemon Company International, couldn't produce a dub for the main Series Anime and Films of equal or better quality over 15 years later with the license, a multibillionaire dollar company?
Who would have guessed 4Kids kept more of the Japanese OST in their dub than TPCi did?
Who would have guessed they had arguably the superior voice cast, many of whose voices are still so memorable after being off the dub for a decade many fans still prefer their renditions to this day?
Who would have guessed they had longer opening theme songs, often considered better, and much better dialogue for Team Rocket like...?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rw1EsnvyAYMy point in all this is to say, and I'm seeing the Internet's hate for their now infamously prior awful rep actually changing for the better-- but admittedly some are actually going a bit *too far* in excusing all they did in the last few years, didn't 4Kids do something mostly right for once-- the first 2 Movies and Chronicles excluded?
P.S. This is regarding strictly this Series, One Piece was a catastrophe and most of their other dubs were not good either but-- regarding Pokemon?
