Same as this anon but also Raichu is an underdog when compared to Pikachu, it's always losing to it just to make Pikachu look better and that's just unfair to me so I grew closer to liking Raichu cause it seemed like a more, I guess relatable, Pokemon when compared to Mr Perfect Pikachu.

Why doesn't Pika start off as Pichu and evolve into Raichu?

Probably because the other forms aren't as popular as the base forms and they wouldn't make as much money off of people.
People don't want Pichu or Raichu, they want Pika cuz it's the mascot and the most popular one.
Same with Snorlax, Mime, and Lucario.
Honestly I'd totally play Pika if it evolved into Raichu.
I love that muddafuckah.

It's like pikachu but bigger and more powerful.
It was cool seeing Surge's raichu beat the shit out of Ash's pika before he figured out how to beat it.
I make sure to have one on every team that I can.
And while Alolan rai is cute, I prefer OG rai for its color scheme and sharper features.
