Maybe have some mons that have island gigantism that are native to one island while some that are native to one of the other islands have island dwarfism. Give more of the bird mons island variants, even if it's just differences in beaks, like Darwin's finches.
I'm okay there being no Alolan variants of Sinnoh, Kalos, and Unova pokemon, but Johto borders Kanto and they even had a town in in SM that was aesthetically more like Johto. There should have been just as many Alolan variants of Johto mons as there were Kanto mons.
