>>43236797A lot of information comes from Japan only resources, so a lot of it is obscured to Westerners with a language barrier alone. A lot of stuff wasn't mass produced either, with some books being promotional material being event-exclusive or just rare, so outside of evidence showing it's existence little is known about them. TPCI is also weird about a lot of it because they'll retcon certain things and purposely avoid talking about some topics because of old material, yet at the same time they'll mention concepts that were only covered in the rarer material.
It's a shame how little documentation there was during early Pokemon. The Anime had guide books with character facts. VHS Tapes were released in Japan with special media and voice-overs. Whole Manga series just never got reprinted, with some not even having covers available for the entire series.
Just today, I was looking into a topic and discovered that, despite not appearing in the games, Celadon University is mentioned multiple times in the card game, anime, and mangas. The majority of the information on it was released in a small book called ' Encyclopedia Pokemonica' which details specific lore of the school and the history of the Pokemon World, but the book was part of a special campaign for an event Magikarp, and there are no scans readily available online.
>>43236503>>43236927It is incredibly disappointing that TPCI and Game Freak decided to sanitize the series. You can tell with certain personal at both companies, some staff hold the older concepts in higher regard than newer ones, but you can't print money without mass appeal. They don't want Pokemon to be monsters anymore, they want them to be mascots.
