There's literally no reason to put this company on a pedestal just because they hold the IP, that's all just legality, legality doesn't determine the worth of things.
GF is today a company, it is not even a person with authorial drive, making profits is above making good games. In fact making good games is merely secondary to making money.
Why do we have to accept decisions made solely by the drive of making a profit as word of God?
At the end of the day these are all fictional works, they aren't real, and legality should not be a restrain of what parts of these unreal works are true and which aren't. The only thing that matters is the quality of the work and what we collectively see as truth.
