If your game still shows a "-" but you have a fully registered friend fully registered friends show a character, not just a "?" in the pal pad just give it time. For example, only my Black 2 is fully registered even though it's friends with my White version. (I probably added my White after a profile check last night.) If you added your games locally via trade or something and you want to be sure they register properly, you could connect them to wifi via GTS, wifi club, or wifi plaza. If they use the same console for wifi, just do it one at a time.
