pokemon is more expensive than ever before for the consumer, but game freak is delivering less content than ever before in the games. cutting pokemon from the dex is not just an insult to the fans, it's downright anti-consumer. they are now holding most of your old pokemon hostage behind a paywall with no guarantee that they'll ever be usable in a game again.
even despite all that, the culling might have been acceptable if the graphics, animations and gameplay had taken a huge leap forward. instead, the games have upscaled 3ds graphics, game boy animations, and another new battle gimmick that will be forgotten about next generation.
pokemon is a $90 billion franchise. game freak's cut of that money is guaranteed to be more than most studios (who make better games) will ever see in their lives. there is no excuse for how much lazier the games get with each new generation.
