Official VGC doesn't seem to change as often because it doesn't follow Smogon rules (surprise surprise), with most team compositions bottlenecking into someodd 20-30 different Pokemon to use because they're just objectively the best to use, with cheese picks getting inserted into the offshoot teams to try and mix things up to deal with those 20-30 top picks.
It's very rare that VGC teams need to change unilaterally as the meta changes compared to Smogon, but I suppose we'll see with Champions when it releases.
