I've got a whole series of adventures planned out for a couple of kids from Pewter City who just happened to be in the same place at the same time looking to catch their first Pokemon.
The boy was after a cool looking Mankey, while the girl had her eye on a cute Jigglypuff.
They threw the Pokeballs at the same time, but they collided in mid-air, ricocheted off each other, and they both ended up catching the wrong Pokemon.
They were understandably annoyed at first, but much happier for it in the long-run.
I also have a mini 'AU' of sorts where a wandering Celebi accidentally stops that from happening, they both get the Pokemon they wanted and they both end up miserable as they grow up
