I think E3 not happening this year is messing with everyone's schedule. Pokemon usually liked to get their own stuff out of the way a week or 2 before E3, but there is just nothing like that this year.
If they also care enough to distance themselves from Summer Game Fest and Microsoft's events on the following weekend, we might have to wait until late June for Pokemon this year. Depends when Nintendo is doing their own Direct too.
