So this starts back in XY when the smark booker refused to pull the trigger on Ash winning the league because of his hardon for Alainetty when the crowd was hot and the moment was there. Marks hated it, smarks hated it and it killed the territory so hard they had to go a PG era with Alola. So knowing they fucked up, they hotshotted some pissant outlaw mudshow league for Ash to win even though the moment was gone. But they're pushing fucking Leon, with the orange and yellow Charizard nostalgia gimmick which isn't putting a single butt in seats because the mark bookers have decided his gimmick is "he just loves battling so much and he beats everyone!". Obvious play is Ash vs Leon, could have done Ash vs Leon Broadway then Dusty finish when Eternatus runs in with the gimmick for the no contest, Ash puts over a champ who sells the fuck out of him and certifies him as a main eventer or simply go all in and have Ash pull off the underdog win and break the streak. Instead, some mark in the back decides to hotshot it into a massive overbooked tournament with champions who didn't need to be there. You could have had redone the shine on all your homegrown leaders/rivals who have organic pushes, Raihan, Hop, Bea, Bede, Marnie, fluffed the rest of the card out with jobbers but now you're locked into this champion shit, and you've already fucked yourself because tournament style means that 6 of the champions FROM EVERY OTHER TERRITORY ARE GONNA HAVE TO PUT SOMEONE OVER. Lance is buried, Iris is dead before her careers even started, they brought Alain back just to beat him flat 123, Steven/Diantha's aura's gone, they could have done something with Cynthia vs Leon, someone who's drawn a damn dime in this industry, but now her heat's gone and Ash is either stuck with a push too big for his dimeless Lucario, or he's putting over Leon anyway. Get a clue.
